That was my line of thinking too until this space came up at a neighbourhood meeting. It's simply having and being able to walk by a nice green space with plenty of trees, not so much that it's private property. There's no other green space like that on upper Church Street except two slices of green on each side of the 519 Community Centre.

The area has plenty of towers in the park offering filler space in order to not have to dig deeper to meet the parking requirements. There's the Manulife head office as well to walk past of which the landscape design is actually maintained.

Then petition your Councillor to have the city buy it.

Councillor Wong-Tam has already advised the community that the Isabella & Church project is a done deal.

The city does very little to maintain current parks. The "tower in a park" greens actually do better, as the owners in the Village area do a fine job of enhancing their properties.

In all the hue and cry about lack of green space, what comes to my mind is: buildings are the ecology of this area. Green lawns, soothing to some, feel like blank holes to others.

I feel for the people that are left living in that building, hell is about to descend on them for the next two years.
