All that effort just to preserve the facade and no more, makes you wonder if tearing it all down and recreate the same facade using the reclaimed brick would be an even better solution, but that may add more insult to injury for the purists.

Ugh?..there wasn't much more than the facade to preserve in those neglected rat infested properties, i'll take the facades and office building instead of that shite

This building is an epic F.U to Toronto heritage. Not to mention a terribly boring design. This never should have been allowed to happen.
Read back in the thread, there's lots of discussion on the compromises made and the fact that the interior of these buildings were totally unsuitable for 2019 and saving the facades was the best that could be done. I agree that the design of the new building is far from 'perfect' but it really isn't THAT bad.
