Both the old and new designs are CetraRuddy with Core as AoR. This certainly does look like the latter took more control though. This new design is by Core.
I'm not sure they ever got into serious costing on the previous design. The idea was to try and blow Planning away with a wild form that might sway them away from the obvious difficulties with zoning, OP and the neighbourhood to the north. As such, they went tall and thin with fewer, larger units (178 units in this version vs 60 before). With a larger floorplate and a more conservative form, Adi are likely just targeting the mid market as opposed to ultra luxury (that said, mid-market is now $1,500+ psf nowadays).I bet the old design couldn’t fit into the desired proforma spreadsheets.
Likely the architect refused/ was unable to cut down any further, and the developer found another willing to provide a more ‘rationalized’ design.
Come on. You know this will be window wall when all is said and done. The new design does, however, retain luxurious details like bronze finishes and large expanses of floor-to-ceiling curtainwall glazing.
Shame, this was already doomed 2 years ago when the local councillor did not support it..Yup knew this was coming. something so cool was just doomed
