Oh god! Starlight is now building?!?

FYI, These guys are responsible for the horrendous colour scheme as shown with the existing tower and replicated all across Toronto; beige with the top 4ish floors in dark brown.

Hey @AlbertC, I'd encourage you to upload images to UT's image server instead of linking to live URLs so that…

1) if they're large (like these two—one, as a png file is, 27 MB!), they'll be automatically re-sized to 1280 pixels, speeding up everyone's loading time, and cutting the data burden especially for those reading UT on mobile devices

2) URLs can change, and those links can die. By uploading to UT, the photos will always be here!

I'm taking the liberty of replacing the two above with uploaded versions.

The earlier, simpler design looked better, but it seems like they've decided to tacky it up as it gets shorter. Database file updated with new renderings, height, unit count, etc.

The original plan of 24-stories was with 9' ceilings, which would make it equivalent to a 27-storey building, which is nearly double the height of the existing building! The new proposal has mostly 8' ceilings, which is why it looks shorter despite being only 2-storeies fewer than the initial proposal. Regardless, this proposal is WAY to big for the little space they want to put it in. It's even more evident when they need to do a 4-level underground parking garage to accommodate the new tenants!
 
9' ceilings are industry standard today - creating a 10' slab to slab, the standard measurement of a "storey". So no, it was equivalent to a 24 storey building because it was a 24 storey building. Now it's equivalent to a 20 storey building, while it is 22 storeys.

It looks fine to me, not sure why a 4 level underground is an issue. It's pretty standard in a lot of new construction.

Hi, thanks for the info about the 9' ceilings. The existing building was built in 1969. Does that mean it is likely 9' or 10' from slab to slab? The 3-point condo to its south was built in 1971 and has 8' ceilings.

With regard to the photo directly above, this is showing the building as being directly accessible to Rathburn. It will actually be set-back at least 14+ meters from Rathburn with a fence (likely) because of the 427 on-ramp - see the 2nd photo above and you will see it is not at roadside. The new building will be accessible only from The East Mall with the shared driveway of the existing building.

It's disheartening when the "artist's renderings" so distort reality :(
