What would you expect for Rexdale and Highway 27?

I'm surprised there's a proposal for a new hotel here - there's a large Quality Inn, but little else - one hotel closed nearby at 385 Rexdale and is now an immigration detention centre. Woodbine Centre is dying, and there's not much else around. Any Woodbine Racetrack based casino will likely have its own on-site hotel/resort.

Yes, it's Rexdale, but if you're going to be bothered spending the money to put this up, you could do much better for the same or only a marginal amount more $$$.

This is just lazy schlock.

Kibosh the resto building, stick in the ground floor, which you give just a bit more height.

Ideally eliminate the surface parking, bringing the building up to the street, but failing that, shift it to the side, so the now consolidated resto can can have a patio.

Just that and a modest amount of streetscaping would do wonders for this proposal.

For a few extra $$, bring the bottom 2 floors out like a podium, and use a half-way decent brick or other better material, you can still leave the tower more or less as is.

I would prefer something nicer still, of course, but for a suburban location such as this, a few thoughtful choices can make a world of difference.
