Toronto 400 King West | 157.37m | 48s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

This still has a year plus before construction. Smart to get a retail tenant on a short term lease to at least get some cash flow on the property prior to redevelopment.

Yeah, those windows are neat - and look ready to fill with spandrel.

Because it's Plaza.

Stumbled upon an alternate podium design on the Main and Main website. No idea if these are a replacement of the current 'capsule' concept or whether this was a rejected design:

Just another cookie cutter condo for the entertainment district with walls of glass at street level, cheap looking precast cladding, and units with views into the neighbouring tower's units 25 meters away. It's disappointing to see the city continuing with developments like this.

How many versions of this have we seen now? I think this is the 4th podium design I've seen. There was the initial one from HPA, then it switched to Quadrangle and we got the brick arch/capsule thing, then there was the squared-off brick version, now there's this brick-less iteration.

Could still end up okayish but what a downgrade. The capsule design was very interesting and the angular brick design nice too. And what's the thinking from all these developments with anonymous glass at streetlevel. It's so cold and also limits what can be done with the internal space. That spiral staircase is neat though, hope that happens.

Agreed, what a disappointment!
From a red brick with interesting curves and arches design to a bland, boring cheap glass and precast
Disappointing and sad these are getting approved in the Entertainment District
What a gem PJ condos is
