Too bad. Quad's plan for this site was unreal.

Probably figured the design would be too radical and edgy for area residents. Richard Wengle's work appears to be more restraint.

What a talentless hack. He can't do restrained traditional (a la Bob Stern), he can't do modern (eg. Block) - why does anyone hire this Sunday painter at all?

North Drive should be doing the area a favour, not pandering to the more money than taste types.

Years ago when it was built, I went to look at the model suites and remember one marble bathroom that had walls of windows around the sunken tub that looked out into the woods...it was glorious!

At least it's a flatiron! The biggest downside is that for some bizarre reason, this stretch of Bloor street seems to be allergic to retail.

Would have preferred seeing an art-moderne (think Forest Hill)-style brick flatiron instead.

If, and only if, they use real stone, then this building might be a good addition to the neighbourhood. It looks fairly natural in its classicism--not exaggerated and fake. It stands quite boldly, which is exactly what you'd expect in a metropolitan city. Fake stone in precast would really bring down the architecture. A building of units that go for at least $1.2 mil should not have precast concrete panels masquerading as stone.
