Agree, re: the quality of food, but disagree re: the ability for the new builds to recreate the cadence of the small storefronts we're losing here. 'Vibrant', this strip will no longer be.
It's not the best restaurants but it's convenient for those going to see the shows at the theaters, Roy Thompson, Scotia theater etc.Interesting way to characterize a tourist trap of horrific restaurants nobody in Toronto likes.
Obviously, by "interesting" I mean "completely inaccurate"
I wouldn't worry too much, this is pretty clearly a rezoning exercise where the owner will promptly flip the property to a new owner who will update the design, much like what happened next door.Great...yet another blue/green, potentially spandrel laced box tower in the Entertainment District. Well at least it will blend in just fine amongst the sea of mostly horrific architecture in the area.
from https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2020/04/settlement-offer-accepted-50-storey-tower-restaurant-row-site :Not to worry, they will have it chopped down to 157 meters when all is said and done
Haha it's a no brainer when all your life you have followed Toronto City Planningfrom https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2020/04/settlement-offer-accepted-50-storey-tower-restaurant-row-site :
Originally proposed at 42 storeys (and 176 metres tall) …. has been settled on is 50-storey, 157 metre-high
Automation Gallery, how did you know it in 2013 ?
157 metres is the telltale height for that area, that Festival Tower reached first, and then made a "table top" when the OMB allowed every tower near it to get that same height.from https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2020/04/settlement-offer-accepted-50-storey-tower-restaurant-row-site :
