This project is located at the south-east corner of Bloor St and Markland Dr, just before the Etobicoke Creek.

I believe the 3 story will be at the south end of the existing 10 story building, as the east side is having it underground parking structure rebuilt at this time and no room on the west side. It will have 27 units.

The 18 story build will house retail at grade along Bloor St.

On the north side of Bloor St for 210 Markland Dr, there is enough room for 2 buildings.

If one looks at Bloor St west of here to Dixie Rd, there is no less than 15 properties that could house another building or 2 since this is a major transit route to the Islington and Kipling station today.

There is an new application up at Dixie Rd for the south-east corner for 10 townhouse at the south end.

Glad to read this...I used to live at 210 Markland....loved living there, but it was a "tower in a park" .....this area could use some density along Bloor.

Slowly brewing, a fourth submission for this development was made to the City in June 2017, wth some documents following in September. So, not dead.

From the overuse of spandrels to the generic panelled mechanical penthouse, the facade is uninspiring. The builders of the apartment buildings in the area set the bar low, but we should be doing better nowadays.

An August 2018 Pre-Hearing Conference resulted in time to get participants fully recognized by an April 2019 continuation of the PHC, allowed by a September 2019 hearing.

PRESS RELEASE:

Carttera is pleased to announce the acquisition of 240 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, an existing 10-storey, 113 unit residential apartment building situated on a 3.25 acre site, which is LPAT-approved for the development of an additional 190,000 square feet of residential.
…so it appears that Council's appearance at the LPAT to oppose this was not successful.

Updated project description:
Previous proposal included a 9-storey residential apartment building fronting Bloor Street West (Bloor Building) with an integrated 3-storey residential townhouse block at the northwest corner of Broadfield Drive (Broadfield Townhomes) as well as a 3-storey residential building at the northeast corner of Markland Drive and Sunplains Crescent (Sunplains Building). The existing 10-storey, 113 unit apartment building would be retained. The current proposal includes extending the Bloor Building westward; replacing the Broadfield Townhomes with a 3-storey portion of the Bloor Building (containing walk-up units on the ground and second floor as well as units within the Bloor Building on the third floor); and removing the Sunplains Building and replacing this area with landscaped outdoor space. The number of residential units would increase from 164 units to 234 units, however, the total gross floor area would decreased from 17,678 square metres to 17,615 square metres.

Carttera + IBI Group: 9 storeys (32.3 metres including MPH)
