Wow this progress is very very slow. thought there would be columns up by now at least.

This looks like quite a challenging site from geotech perspective - deep excavation, adjacent structures, no bedrock, weak-looking soil. Looks like they're reinforcing the bottom of the excavation in advance of pouring a massive raft slab.

The Minto Quantum buildings, almost immediately to the south of 2221 Yonge, had a massive floating slab foundation - one of the biggest single pours in Toronto construction history. Unfortunately, given the amount of time that has passed, posts and pictures of the pours (first and larger pour for the south tower, second pour for the north tower) are no longer available in the Urbantoronto thread. It really was a sight to see, with access on all sides blocked off for the concrete trucks, and multiple concrete pumps - on each side of the excavation and in the bottom of the pit as well - all simultaneously working away. Also - the rebar nests for the slabs were unbelievable.....
So yes - it will take some time to get the 2221 Yonge site past this stage of construction.
The Minto buildings had big water problems. Lots of water pumped out of that pit.

Didn't someone mention significant water issues when they built Quantam years ago? Same thing?
