The development at 1151 Weston Road in Mount Dennis involves a former Scotiabank building, originally designed by architect Gordon S. Adamson. The building, constructed in 1949 with an addition in 1981, is recognized as a cultural heritage resource and is included on the City's heritage inventory.

Eventual zone and flip? 🫣
People trying to zone and flip a site with garbage geotechnical conditions are asking to lose money today.

It's really getting to be sad how many people are proposing these 40+ storey buildings in this location without any possibility of constructing them. If you can't even write a report that identifies where bedrock is for caissons, stop applying for it and wasting time and money. The economics on a 46-storey building here will not work today unless the land is literally free. Even then it probably doesn't work.

Good design, hopefully it remains through future resubmissions.

It's still wild to me seeing the high percentage of studio/single bedrooms in the new building being constructed. The older apartment buildings, at least in this part of town, tend to be no more than 10-20% one-bedroom.

I agree in theory, but that's not entirely true:

The podium is okay but the towed? Staggered windows and powder blue spandrel? Am I dreaming and we're actually in 2017??

No. In 2017 this would only have been applied for if the proponent had any intention to sell and build it.
