The jokes on us. The cheapening was probably justified internally once it was established how little visibility this tower will have in the near future. Between 8 Cumberland, 11 yorkville and 1 scollard this building will be boxed in. I still think it looks better than a lot of junk going up, so at least they tried.

So true. It's like why even bother? Just put up a damn glass box and be done with it. I always spend time looking at this thing saying "oh....that's not bad" then focus a bit and "yuck". The mullions are killing the design. Better quality materials would have really made this thing look special.

It's true that the only egregious part of this, the south-side vertical line of spandrel, will be largely hidden by 8 Cumberland. The rest of the building looks pretty great IMO.
