Back when children's programming used to do cool things like promote public transportation...

Subway!

Wow. The New York Subway sure had some weirdos riding it in the 1970s.

I do remember this sketch from waaay back. The Christmas Special also had the subway featured.

No kidding - that lady with the fuzzy purple head that opens 180 degrees? What's up with that?

Thanks for posting - that brought back some good memories.

Definitely remember that skit, as well as a counting sequence that showed endless numbers of New Looks and a few Old Looks (most likely MTA, Queens and Yonkers buses) coming out of a terminal. Good times. Funny though, at the same time I remember watching the original Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 on TV, and it scared the daylights out of me. Coupled that with riding the old G-cars that used to have their lights flicker on and off, riding my dad's Keele 41 runs and wandering around Lansdowne garage, and I had transit overload as a kid.

I remember a Canadian Sesame Street skit (Louie the Otter and Basil the Bear) where they hopped onto a TTC bus and sang a song about the "autobus".

That's fantastic! Fantastic!

"If you're in a hurry, take the express"
"It'll go right by your local address"...
