Hi, this is my first post here, glad to be joining the forums.

Anyways, I've been very intrested in studying architecture at Ryerson University, and I've heard the program is great, only I would like to hear more about what exactly the program is like, what we do, etc.

I was wondering if any forumers have been through the program offered there, or if anybody knows any information, it would be great hearing as much as possible about what I'm getting into for the next few years.

Thanks!

I hear that students endlessly scheme about replacing the ugly parts of Ryerson. It may even be for course credit.

the thing is, they implemented a new cirriculum this year. so all the people who went through it previously or are in it now, have different courses. one of the main things that changed was that you do 3 years of general education and 1 year of specialization. before it was 2 and 2 of each. the only plus side of the new cirriculum is the increased studio time and the master's program here as well.

if you have any specific questions about courses or profs don't hesitate to ask. btw i'm currently in 3rd year.

Wow, after visiting the architecture building for the first time, I decided to make a pretend replacement for the building on sketchup for fun, haha, irony?

Thanks for the info, smuncky, and yeah, I hear people saying theres a lot of studio work.

As for future questions, at this point I know little, so any info is great, thanks!

alright then let me ask you some questions.

if you live in oakville, do u intend to commute everyday or live on campus somewhere?

why do you want to be an architect?

there has been a curse put on by egerton ryerson because they knocked down his original Normal School and replaced it with Kerr Hall. Now he haunts all the architects with bad designs. that's why i have low hopes for the KPMB master plan design.

Im going to be living near the school, possibly in the Neil Wycik building? I'm leaving my options open as to where, but I won't be commuting.

As for why I want to be an architect? I've always had a passion for art, creativity and design, mixed with my passion for skyscrapers, buildings, cities and anything of the like, Architecture has caught my eye years ago, and I've been planning my way through school and into university hoping to one day be able to contribute my designs to the world.
In my spare time, I like to design imaginary buildings and make cities full of my creations.
