1. Welcome to Riga, Latvia.

2. This bus really reminds me of Eastern Europe.

4. Riga appears to be a wealthy place, with clean streets, manicured lawns, and people enjoying the weekend.

8. Lovely fall colours. We came at the right time ... if only the skies were blue! Yes - I am greedy.

12. More colourful buildings await - just like in the rest of Europe.

19. The paint may not be new, but the street scenes are not run-down at all.

28. There aren't that many cars roaming the streets of the old town, which made exploring by foot even more fun.

35. A nicely-beautified alley.

40. It was a cool October day ... a bit too cold to enjoy outdoor dining.

Very nice. I have a friend who's from Daugavpils and lives in Riga and she's managed to make me very curious about this part of the world. Quite the history.

84. St. Peter Church is quite a landmark in the old town, so we thought there must be a way to get to the top.

86. The ravages of war ...

88. It got quite windy up at the top. Braving the cold, we snapped as much as we could in the small but cozy observation deck. I'm guessing the big round buildings is the market that another forumer mentioned about in my earlier photo post?

89. I believe there's an observation deck within that communist-style skyscraper?

96. Good thing skyscrapers are abit further away.

104. This is an interesting shot. The 3 key structures seem to line up in height. Wonder if they planned that on purpose?

114. With the cloudier weather, I had to resort to more rooftop shots.

118. A modernization! Believe this is a mall ... I was in it a few times looking for something and to get groceries.

119. As the lighting dimmed and some sunshine peaked out, the river reflected quite nicely on the bridge.

HK: Good pics of Riga,Latvia here! I really like that it has so much older architecture and it has little of the Communist-era bland architecture that I picture former Soviet Union cities having. LI MIKE

Great shots. The Old town is really cool place, though it seems that I can't find any pictures with the black cat here. One of the symbols the town has.
