He was known for his expertise in East Asian affairs, critical infrastructure and the use of "bots" online.
Interesting, wonder who he was compromised to- Russia? China? Feels like they're the ones most aggressively taking part in informational warfare.

Edit: Probably Russia.

A senior Royal Canadian Mounted Police intelligence officer who was arrested for allegedly stealing sensitive information supervised an investigation on the laundering of stolen Russian funds, Canadian media reported on Saturday.

Reminds me of that National Microbiology Lab researcher who was escorted out of her lab a month or two ago.

From the sounds of it organized crime:

But who really knows at this point. Major black mark for RCMP no matter what - they have been disgraced enough times of late, we should just dissolve the org, raze it clean and start afresh.

As to this one, if there is one case for capital punishment remaining on the books, it would be for (high) treason.

More like major black mark for Canada. There have been plenty of warnings from the rest of the Five Eyes about Canadian security being lax. And let's be honest, this is a Canadian attitude. We don't take defence and security issues seriously at all. I can actually envision a scenario where we could be given the New Zealand treatment for a while (it was Four Eyes for a long time with lots not shared with NZL).
