well, I haven't posted here for quite some time (been busy) but I did make it out to the Pride events this past Sunday. Sorry, no pics of the parade itself, but I did check out the after-parade celebrations on Church St.
anyway, hope you enjoy the photos!
blurry, but interesting
the obligatory crowd shot complete with Spire going up in the distance. Basically, the street was set up with various stage areas, DJ booths and dance areas, and other points of interest. The bars along Church also added to the atmosphere
here's a DJ booth set up at the corner of Church and Wellesley
I hung around here for a bit
you can't please everybody
people enjoying the beats... mostly house and trance
good god...
looking west up Wellesley with University College in the distance
making my way behind the DJ booth
hey mr. DJ...
some people really get into it
the DJ again... and a tattooed friend
this pic is so "Toronto" to me
a pano? sure, why not!
the super-soakers were out in full force
our first casualty... she could hardly stand (I'm guessing self-inflicted)
a fine day to go shopping for pet food
so I made my way back around because there was no way to pass through the crowd on the other side. One last woooooooooo!
moving along... the nude-beach queens: Miss Wreck Beach of Vancouver and Miss Hanlon's Point of Toronto (hmm... I thought it was spelled "Hanlan")
Church Street and surroundings
did you know that purple is the the gay-pride colour?
a gay angel
colourful cuban music to compliment the colourful surroundings
almost as far north as Bloor
starting to head back down to Carlton
this guy was probably in the parade earlier in the day
I managed to find a decent elevated perspective. This is looking south down Church
looking north on Church
it's starting to get dark...
and therefore blurry
glad to see my bike still there!
hey, there's that girl again from before. Unfortunately I missed the shot, but she was getting creative with that bike parking thing...
this club opened its sliding doors and people started dancing out front, basically creating a secondary dance floor
the bars were getting noticably busier. The city extends last call to 4am during big events (should be standard, in my opinion)
hey, that's Spenny from "Kenny vs. Spenny"
a girl with a snake... (oh, the wit!)
another dance area
another casualty... this one doesn't look self-inflicted
Carlton St. going about its regular business
the main dance area was near Church and Carlton
here's where I put the camera away and say goodnight.
thanks for checking out the thread!
