Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

I think FordFest would be a great place to have a massive protest. I can think of many organizations who are unhappy with him, teachers, beer store owners, parents of autistic children, people who love wildlife etc.
I attended an autism fundraiser and it was amazing that parents were complaining about the Ford "cuts". During the speeches, the various doctors gave thanks to the unprecedented funding given by the government. I am not sure if the people will actually think before they form an opinion. It is amazing that even people that have such a huge stake on the issue can be so woefully ill informed and swayed by false news.

You, who regularly post false news here, as you did just a few posts above in grossly misrepresenting the Ford government's record by incorrectly giving it credit for something that occurred under a previous government. .............and as you did in the SSE thread in incorrectly asserting that cut and cover constructions costs were 1/2 as much as tunneling; are in no position to comment.

Moreover, the current government did move to cut the program as received by some, initially, in order to offer less help to more people.

It was only later, after being inundated by complaints, protests and bad press that they walked back that decision and delivered additional funds.

The people complaining are not in error that had the Ford government gone unchallenged, the level of help available in the program would have been less per person.

****

Please stop trying to construct a world in which your fantasies are everyone else's reality.

Go get evidence. Read the reports you cite before linking to them.

You might actually change your mind about something now again. (I'm not holding out hope, but its a nice thought)

I found something that looks like facts.

Watchdog to investigate conflicting Ontario autism budget numbers

Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy said in the legislature Wednesday that the Liberal budget for the program was $256 million. There was $62 million "in holdback," which was released by the Treasury Board, and MacLeod then asked for an additional $40 that was provided, he said.

Interim Liberal leader John Fraser said the previous government's budget was indeed $321 million for its autism program, with part of those funds held by the Treasury Board as is standard practice.
. . . .
The financial accountability office said its investigation will take several months.
It sounds to me that the Liberals did commit $320M, but over-promised and more money was needed in mid-year. We shall see what finally becomes of this.

Autism controversy, confusion and what lies ahead for Ontario families
The annual budget is $321 million. The government added an additional $100 million this year. But MacLeod has said it is one-time funding and changes are needed to make the program fair for families and sustainable for taxpayers.
So it sounds like the PC's added funding, but it was only for 1 year - which seems to match there election promise.[

Not that previous locations for Ford Fest were public transit friendly, but this location in Markham is nowhere near anything resembling a bus stop.

AND at the very bottom it reads:"We believe the new program will have significant limitations in terms of its ability to support the best possible clinical outcomes for children and youth with ASD."

If the Ontario Conservatives are trying to stay out of the limelight for the next five months.. they are off to a bad start.

Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland, the grandson of renowned former Saskatchewan premier Tommy Douglas, is asking Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Ottawa MPP Lisa MacLeod to stop using his grandfather's name for their own political ends.

MacLeod invoked the premier's memory in a May 31 Financial Post editorial, arguing that Douglas would have approved of Ontario Progressive Conservatives' moves toward fiscal discipline.

"So I can only ask, as the grandson of this man, for you to stop posting his picture and using his name as part of your political agenda. After all, I knew Tommy Douglas and you Sir, are no Tommy Douglas."

I'm not even on Twitter, I access it when there's a link to something worthwhile, and doing so a few hours ago, I noticed that Tweet was appearing retweeted in many strings.

Lisa MacLeod has to be one of the stupidest people on earth. She's now getting into a twitter spat with Keifer Sutherland over his comments.
lol...and with that comment, I can now follow through on what I thought reading:
No one can keep Doug quiet
Put an intelligence test in front of him...

Sutherland's tweet has been reposted by plenty of media outlets, organizations and individuals. The hits just keep on coming .... the beer tweet fiasco, and now invoking the name of Tommy Douglas. The government needs some new media consultants.

For many years I have heard and read Doug always hired "The Best" when it came to advertising & media consultants, which resulted in a Camping Office and a web designer that used commercial templates resulting into linked "porno advertisements" The best... the very best!
