Niagara Falls Hilton Phase II (53s, 172m, Stanford Downey Architects)

Some selected quotes from that SSC discussion...

"...yeah, but it's tall..."

"it looks fine to me, its TALL!!! thats what matters"

"it's like when you see an ugly broad with huge tits. On one hand, you think 'damn, she's a horse'. But on the other hand, you think 'wow, those tits are huge'"

I'm quickly reminded why I don't browse the world forums.

LOL @ cdl - amen to that.

I guess we must be getting a little high-brow here :p

Thanks GB for fixing the title.

And yes, this was the first time I have visited in a while and remembered why it doesn't happen very often.

As for the tower, I seriously hope it doesn't end up looking like that. Ick.

Somehow, I can't see Queen Camilla's hubby really digging this Hilton expansion, either;-)

This building couldn't be any tackier or uglier. It's perfect for Niagara Falls.

And so, the best (and most underrated) high-rise in NF Ont. remains the 40-yr-old Skylon...

Besides the rather uninspiring tower the complex will include a convention centre, business meetings rooms, conference facilities and greatly expanded retail.

The at grade retail should somewhat urbanize the location and create a new heart of the hotel/tourist district in Niagara Falls in conjunction with the casino.

It isn't beautiful architecture, but the building will serve and important purpose and once built it could really expand the emerging district around the casino. Despite the design this tower will be interesting to watch go up and I'm sure the views will be very impressive from the suites.

I imagine that one will be able to see the Toronto skyline fairly well on a clear day and vice versa. Poor Niagara Falls NY, so little investment relative to the booming Niagara Falls Ontario.

I've heard from those in the industry down that way that the Hilton should hopefully break ground in October and the other new high rise hotel (can't remember the name) should break ground this fall as well.

Similar to the recent explosion of hotel proposals in Toronto, Niagara Falls is also about to experience a rather dramatic increase in available rooms - the question is can they fill them on a regular basis.

*harumph* euphemism *harumph*

Oh yeah, even in abandoned disrepair, NFNY's United Building kicks the arse of any of those newfangled super-duper-tacky NFOnt hotel skyscrapers

Denny's is now closed and construction on the 52 floor 171m expansion has began. There has supposedly been a change to the crown that may add about 6m in height (and hopefully look better then the rendering above)
