Shurely, they could make something lovely out of laminated glass that could replace those fences?

Those chain link fences have to go. They look so cheap and temporary, but the city seems to have treated them as a permanent solution. They're unacceptable at a place that's so important for the city. The city should support the creative economy and get some talented designer to come up with an attractive custom barrier for the space.

Or just extend the reflecting pool, so the base of each arch is surrounded by a little moat. Then fill it with alligators or piranhas or some such.

A certain majesty has returned to the Square since the Peace Garden was given the old heave-ho.

I can only agree. Passing by there yesterday I thought that there was a sudden airiness to the space.
