Hi everybody,
I need some help: I want to come from MTL to Toronto after 2 years in Mtl because of my french. It will never be good enough for me to feel comfortable. The frustration is simply too much for me.

I need some help in finding some useful online job postings, or headhunting agencies. My plan is to come and stay in some bed and breakfast until i find a job and then go flat hunting. Is that a good or bad plan? Any descent hostels or similar comfortable stays? Im 35 and really not into sharing bathrooms and I do prefer a clean room if that is possible, offcourse without having to pay xxxx dollars for it. I plan to take a month for this project. (including getting to know toronto a bit, because I dont know anything about the city except for downtown off course) What do you think?
Thank you for your help

Mike, I suspect that answers to your post are not coming quickly as there may be few people on this board that are familiar with the b'n'b situation here. I've lived here for nearly my whole life, and I know there are lots of b'n'bs, but I don't know anything about individual ones as I've never had to use one.

There's probably better online resources for everything you're wondering about, like possibly TripAdvisor for the b'n'b's, and several websites for job listings. This forum is a good place to read up on neighbourhood issues and the various building and transportation projects around the city, but that's just a first step to exploring town for yourself of course.

Hopefully there are some others reading here with more experience that can help you more than I can.

There are rental hotels. There's the Rosemont and Soho and a bunch of other ones (that are maybe much cheaper). Try craigslist as well for temporary housing. And as far as job seeking, there's workopolis, craigslist etc. Even on workopolis if you don't find a job posting to suit you, it lists at the very least a lot of recruitment companies etc.

Not quite sure if i can help you out with the bnb situation but what kind of work would be interested in?

Thank you for your reply and excuse me for answering late,

Well, Im basically a marketing & advertising guy, meaning that I would accept positions like account managements or project coordinators and similar, but being a realist and thanx to the fact that I would be completely new in TO, i would accept working in Starbucks or something similar as long as it pays the rent and food etc and as long as the energy in the environment is positive. Could you help me out?

Thanx

Pickings here would probably be slim, as interchange points out. Check workopolis and any sites that are specifically aimed at people in the particular field you are interested in. Don't forget any contacts at all which you may have. The job situation in Toronto is probably better than many other cities, but unfortunately in this environment it's still not a great time to be job hunting in a new city. Best wishes!
