I didn't think they were building any non-Supercentre stores these days. This store would be on-par with the other Supercentres in the area.

It does seem a bit small for a SuperCentre at 160,000 sq ft.

Heartland: 200,000 sq ft.
South Common Mall: 130,000 sq ft.
Winston Churchill/Argentia: 130,000 sq ft.
Square One: 220,000 sq ft.
West Brampton : 180,000 sq ft.

The average of those stores you listed is 172,000, so it's not really that much smaller.

I suppose but aren't two of those (South Common and Winston Churchill) Supercentres in name only? The other three consist of two purpose-built Supercentres as well as the largest non-Supercentre Walmart in the world until it was renovated. (If what I was told by a manager there once is true) Those three average 200,000 sq ft. In my mind, that is what I was comparing the new store to in asking the question.

New MCC restaurant called &Company. Hopefully this time around this location will be more successful than in the past... The menu is pretty good and reasonable. It officially opens tomorrow. It has a rooftop patio.

Wow - looks nice. That's a big space to fill, though. I miss Lone Star..

The newest purpose-built Walmart Supercentre I can think of is in Niagara Falls (McLeod Rd) and it is the same size as this Dixie/Dundas one. So maybe this is the new standard?

It took them long enough to reno this building.

Based on track record to date, I sure hope the owner has some deep pockets, otherwise will not last long in building up clients.

I hope they do well.

Will have to drop by a check it out.

As for the Walmart, haven't been down in that area for months to check the site out.

Had a looked at the new Walmart at Dixie and a 10 minute walk from the bus stop to get to it.

It is at the very back next to the CP tracks and the GO Station. A new road is built to GO parking lot as well getting to/from Dixie Rd. GO drivers can use the new road system to get to/from the lot by Dundas.

From looking at the back end and the east side of the store, it looks like the land to the east will become a GO parking lot at a future date as well having a new #1 track built on the north side of the existing platform. The #4 track would go on the south side of the existing tracks #1 & #2.

Who is every developing these lands should go after the stores on Dundas to relocate to this new area. This will allow those lands to be redevelop and relocate the new traffic light to the east that are 100m east of the current light for the mall. Real traffic mess with those light so close to each other.

There is a Costco being built in Guelph that's not on either of those lists

Well that's because it's not official yet. Costco is simply interested in building on a certain piece of land.

With it being in the hands of Guelph City Council, that could mean anywhere from six months, to ten years (like Walmart) before it's open.
