Robertson, James & Co., lead & shot works, King St. W., s.w. corner Dorset St. 1912. (TPL) Dorset was a N-S street that ran south from King, about halfway between John and Duncan.

Wellington Street West south side between York and Simcoe in the 1900's (TPL)

Demolished in the early 1930's for the University Avenue extension south of Queen:

In the 1850's, they were comparable to the best Georgian architecture of Boston or New York (from the famous Rossin House panorama of 1856):

By the 1930's, half had been demolished, and the area was now industrial. The remaining houses would go as University Avenue was driven through the block:

Interesting how dismally blocked-off the north end of the "Letros building" on the left side of the 1972 shot is--quite a contrast from today's wide-open UPS store...
