Finch West Line 6 LRT

It would be funny if it opened before Eglinton, despite construction starting almost a decade later!

Certain politicians would be gobsmacked if it turns out that one can approve an LRT line and have it built and running (even in test mode) before they next come up for election.... unlike subway projects which may be someone else's victory to claim.

Maybe that should be the way voters vote. If you don't get it done in one term, out you go.
Need 2 terms to get things done as the first term is learning and setting fire for things to be done.

3 terms and you are out regardless what has or has not be done. Too many long in the tooth after 3 terms who want that nice pay check and retirement plan. Applies to all levels of government.

When was the last time a TTC CEO/GM lasted more than 5 or 10 years???

ML is on their 3rd CEO since 2006

Those are no elected positions. I am talking about politicians that tout things like Smartrack or Subways, Subways, Subways.

Could Finch be artificially delayed to intentionally be opened after Eglinton?

Anything can be intentionally delayed, but who would benefit? For the Ford's government, both Eglinton and Finch are leftovers from the previous times. They are proceeding with both projects because either one would be too messy to cancel, rather than because they expect to get a lot of credit. If so, why would they care which one opens sooner.

Imagine how much more transit we could have built if Metrolinx hadn't wasted the past decade kicking the can down the road for the FWLRT and SELRT ;)

They would have to switch line numbers.
Not necessarily, there are many cities in the world that opened some of their lines out of order - it happens all the time. Heck to this day, Montreal still doesn't have a Line 3, nor does Vienna have a U5 (although afaik that's going to be built somewhat soon?)
