Should Finch East be at grade or underground? If Doug Ford was smart, for the next election he would fast track the Finch West LRT East Extension, along with the Sheppard Subway extension.

I want both but I'd say do the west extension to the GO train first as it's both cheaper and much simpler.I'd much rather see Line 4 extended to the west than a Line 6 extension to the east in terms of priority but I agree with you for the most part.
Mostly at grade I'd think, except perhaps near Yonge - and perhaps Don Mills. Though elevated is surely an option too, and would be much quicker to build than going underground ... but I'd like to see underground at Yonge.Should Finch East be at grade or underground?
Wouldn't be able to do much more than announce it. I don't think the planning for Sheppard is all that advanced. If Doug Ford was smart, for the next election he would fast track the Finch West LRT East Extension, along with the Sheppard Subway extension.

No money was committed, and Metrolinx doesn't seem to have done anything for it, no?Wouldn't be able to do much more than announce it. I don't think the planning for Sheppard is all that advanced.
No formal studies, I just think there are some conceptual plans that were shelves previously (at least from when the line was built). It would take a lot of time to update for the current circumstances. No shovels in the ground for at least 5 years. No money was committed, and Metrolinx doesn't seem to have done anything for it, no?
Honestly, I'm very happy that Ford pushed as many projects as he did (including RER!) They do appear to be being worked on, as well.Would not be surprised if there's a pre 2022 election press conference with "we promise money to plan extensions to this line in the next legislature"
That ship sailed 56 years agoIf Doug Ford was smart,
IIRC, the previous transit city work had a large section underground close to Yonge due to available space at grade.Should Finch East be at grade or underground?
