Hydro corridor would be good for an express service busway that GO and TTC could use (similar to Mississauga Transitway), for express service with only stops at:

-Yorkgate area/ Access for GO buses to Highway 400
-Finch West TTC/GO station
-Yonge/Finch station
-Bayview-Cummer
-Old Cummer GO
-Seneca/ Access for GO buses to Highway 404
-Bridlewood
-Finch East GO station (to be built)

Its not and would never be a solution or replacement for local transit.
Would only work East of Bathurst, West of Bathurst there's a ton of soccer fields, parks, and a lake.

There are definitely some topological considerations, and I think the transitway would have to go south of the reservoir, utilizing the extra corridor space on Finch for a short period, but if painted soccer lines on grass are going to cancel transit plans in Toronto then we are truly lost. Surely they can be relocated or adjusted to allow for a busway to fit.

Would that be popular though? Or would it breed a ton of NIMBYism?

It should still be done. Once the Finch West LRT is well under construction, the next phase for an extension to Yonge should be initiated, and after that a Finch East extension well into Scarborough.
Unfortunately the subway subway subway crowd would rather steer money away from common sense into the endless Sheppard subway debate and then complain about painted Lanes for busses.

Worse is that likely that "subway subway subway crowd" would NOT even use the subway nor the buses.
