looks like a simple addition in the same style as the existing building. Makes the building a total of 86.8m tall, compared to the current 65.8.

So, a whole pile of things happened in 2017 at this site. Back in March, the Committee of Adjustment denied the application for 5 more floors. At the end of August, a one day OMB hearing resulted in the application being allowed, decision rendered in late September. Construction in 2018?

I get a height of 86.3 m / 283 feet to the top of the parapet around the mechanical penthouse. Database file once we get some renderings.

Near zero chance of that as things stand.

1) New office proposals are still coming to market; including some not yet public.

2) The City would fight any office to residential conversion of any scale.

To some degree, yes.

To the degree that it imperils Toronto's office market?

Not yet.

That could change.

Change being a constant.

But the market is not drawing the same near-term conclusions as you.

It's not unprecedented, we've already seen this done with spaces like the old Bell building by Islington station which was hacked up for this ugly thing:

On a side note, I thought we were trying to build more hotel spaces in this city and we had a severe shortage. Whatever happened to that now; did that just disappear all of a sudden (lets not account for COVID for a minute).

This hotel was extended stay, full size kitchens..etc maybe it couldn't compete with the thousands of Airbnb's all over the city?
