The popular British plush toy brand Jellycat has opened a shop inside a shop at the Distillery District in October 2025. This is the first of its kind for the brand in Canada, with 400 square feet of retail space featuring some 170 products.
Jellycat opened its first studios in London in 1999. Founded by brothers Thomas and William Gatacre, the name came from Thomas' son who loved jelly and cats. Their products are now sold in over 75 countries and have a large adult following especially among Gen-Z and millennials.
When I visited on a weekday, it was surprisingly quiet - a world different from London's Selfridges where I could barely move within the shop. But then, they have the "cooking experience", which I never bothered waiting for because the line was so long.
