Jackitecture

Not so long ago, in another post elsewhere, I made this comment...

Note that aesthetics are beside the point here--and just as well w/Metro Hall, whose aesthetic vocabulary can be best described as "JACK-FM"...

Well, I thought to myself; that's a neat idea. To take the obnoxiously ubiquitous (now in NY/LA/Chicago as well as Toronto and elsewhere across Canada), mostly 80s/90s-based radio concept of "JACK-FM", and attach it to the kind of mostly 80s/90s Corporate PoMo/Decon architecture that's presently pretty hard to love and tempting to deride.

And of which Toronto's got plenty. Y'know, like the SE corners of Yonge and Queen/Richmond/Adelaide; that sort of thing. (I guess Police HQ on College might be labelled "High Jack"; however, Mississauga City Hall's too good for Jack...)

Pitch in...

be a pretty bland place without Adma though

Waterpark Place
Consilium 300

Most of the condos on the north side of Queens Quay W.
And most of Bloor from Yonge to Jarvis.
And most of University south of Queen.

The silver slab on Peter St. north of King is a splendid Techy example... the Duran Duran of the genre.

But the Holiday Inn on King is unmatched.

"Oh God, now he's quoting himself."

This isn't the first time...however, this is the first time others have responded.
