Gusto 501 (501 King St E, 4s, Partisans)

First official day of training inside today. Still a bunch of small things to finish, especially on the main floor. Here are some photos and I also took a video but cant figure how to upload it. I will get some better ones when it's getting closer to being finished

Such an evocative expression. Love the colour, material (what is that? terracotta?), modular nature, and that lighting. They remind me in a way of organ pipes.

Edit: also getting a Lijiang Tower vibe.

Has anyone heard about an opening date yet?
I have! But I’m not allowed to say yet. Pizza oven is finally done now. We have had training Wednesday-Saturday for the past few weeks. Construction is officially finished this Wednesday, then we just need permits!

This building has taken an amazinigly long time to build! This thread was opened over 6 years ago when they applied for a permit!

A friend and I walked by on Saturday night. We both live in the neighbourhood and will definitely go try it out, but wondered if it will do well.

The location is a bit odd, tucked away near the overpass without significant retail / residential in the immediate area. On the other hand, there is very little in terms of dining in Corktown and the population is increasing steadily.

I sure hope it's bumping, because their pizza at the other Gusto is fantastic and affordable!
