Great/Effecitve Transit Ads

I thought a lot of people here would be interested in this ad, then I wondered where to post it and thought....maybe it would be cool to have a thread to discuss ads we see in our travels or even ideas on how to market transit.

Anyway, if the mods have a better idea on where to put this....feel free to do that mod thing you do.

That ad is pretty misleading. The 81k cars off the road per day claim is based on 163k boardings, but that's weekdays only, not "every day", and boardings don't include transfers. Taking into account the weekends and transfers, the actual cars off the road daily thanks to UTA is probably more like 50k or 60k.

Btw, Mississauga Transit is very similar ridership to Utah Transit Authority, 183k boardings per weekday, so they could do probably do the same ad, if they can actually find a road in Mississauga that's not congested.

"Even if you don't ride it, you use it". That's a brilliant slogan. The TTC should try something similar. Especially when explaining to drivers how a single streetcar removes an entire block of traffic (approximately).
