Mayor David Miller will proclaim March 21 as Tourist Guide Day in Toronto to raise awareness of the important and vital role tourist guides play in the promotion and success of the city.

To celebrate, the Canadian Tour Guide Association of Toronto (CTGA) will conduct complimentary bus and walking tours of downtown Toronto. Led by professional tour guides, these one-hour tours are an opportunity for the CTGA to showcase the positive value professional tour guides can bring to a visitor’s experience in Toronto. Donations will be accepted for the Association’s education program for professional tour guides.

Date: Tuesday, March 21

Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Final tour commences at 3 p.m.

Place: Metro Hall Rotunda, 55 John Street (at King Street)

Members of the media are invited to call 416-410-8621 to reserve a space on a tour.

Established in 1991, the Canadian Tour Guide Association of Toronto’s mandate is to uphold a high standard of professional integrity and promote educational opportunities for guides. This is achieved by organizing regular workshops and events that encourage professional development as well as working with tour guides in Toronto to maintain and improve the high standards of the profession.

The free sightseeing tours will complement displays from Toronto attractions to promote the wealth of vibrant and diverse events, activities and landmarks to be discovered by Toronto residents and visitors alike.
