I take it many Torontonians haven't traveled much. The mist wall is a feature in several hotel projects around the world. It's a great addition.

That great park in Yorkville on the south side of Cumberland, west of Belair, used to have misting features where all the evergreen trees are at the S/W corner and along with soft lighting, created a wonderful effect at night. Unfortunately the last few misters stopped working probably 10 years ago and sadly, were never repaired.

The mist and lights always made it seem to me like an alien Christmas tree farm.

Nice photos UD! Amazing how there's so much wealth in Yorkville, yet the roads are in such disrepair (some of the last photos) - somewhat embarrassing.

With so much construction I presume road reconstruction will be done when the area projects are complete.

Did anyone manage to catch the discovery channel feature on the building? I missed it! Still awaiting for the clip to pop up on youtube somewhere. hopefully i didn't miss some sorta penthouse/roof tour of the building:(

No penthouse tour, it wasn't about the condos at all, but they did take us to the roof and the window-washing unit. The filming of that bit could have been much more dramatic however; likely the camera guys were too frightened to do anything particularly interesting.

The show was worth watching, but like any reality show it had trumped-up bits (sorry 4S) to try to make it more dramatic than it really was. "Mark only has 5 minutes to get the wrinkles out of the bed or the hotel's reputation will be ruined." Puh-leeze! Still, overall, it was enjoyable.

Here's the mist garden in action. It's on for about two minutes out of every ten.

Looking forward to seeing with the lights on, and when there's sunlight on the park too. It should be interesting to feel the mist on a hot day too.

Finally, Buca's opening should change the square here quite a bit. Looking forward to that!

The rose garden looks beautiful! Starting to warm up to it quite a bit more.

The pixelated paved "carpet" provides a nice contrast to it as well. They sort of work better together than separately, IMO.

I think the garden looks more decorative than functional and the "misting" still seems lame to me. Anyways, but we have so little green space in downtown I guess we have to take what we can get.

While I was working on these photos, my niece (the family's together for the weekend of course) said

"That********is********so********cool".

I for one appreciate the decorative nature of this installation.

These days, when developers put in green spaces that are functional, it generally means it's a glorified dog toilet for condo dwellers.
