Yes, thank you both @adma and @gimbal. I wasn't familiar with it before, glad I know its name now. Found a close-up shot of the entrance, shame such a substantial building made it to 1990 but wasn't saved. Just the door and transom alone are beautiful.

Edited to add another shot. Really a lovely, understated building. Would love to still have that down by the Harbour, complete with the old roof signage.

It struck me interesting that the article seemed fairly supportive of the 'roller boat' but dismissive of the 'jet boat'.

The former OMNI-TV and Tip Top buildings still exist at the corner of Lake Shore & Bathurst.

Can anyone answer these questions:
- When was 147 built (c.1930?) and what was the original selling price?
- Who were the first owners?

Very nice looking house!

Most recently on the market in 2016 and sold for $768,000. The listing shows the interior still had most of its original trim and flooring details - hopefully its still that way

Can't answer original selling price, but the address first appeared in the 1930 city directory with the owner listed as "Dunbar Chas M".

Smably, Thanks for that answer about 147 Donlands.
It confirms that my father may have been the original owner of our home.
I still wonder what it cost him in 1930.
I think some new homes were selling for about $2,000 in those days.

My dad first joined the Queen's Own Rifles. Later on, I remember going to the Armories in the 50's with my parents down by Exhibition Park where the Mess was.
