Next up was a trip south into Bavaria and the city of Munich. Unfortuently, this was a bad day weather wise. Rain here and there and quite cold for the time of year. However, it didn't stop us from enjoying the city.
We first took a double decker bus tour since it was raining and walking wasn't the best option. We then got off once the rain stopped.
This was interesting to see. Looked like a TTC escalator waiting for repairs.
New Town Hall
We went to eat down under the New City Hall into the restaurant called the Ratskeller Munich. Apparently, this was were Hitler liked to eat. This was potatoe soup with bits of bacon and onion. We were also given a bowl of pretzels.
The main course, an assortment of sausages. The bigger white was is called Weisswurst although it wasn't brought in a traditional bowl. Still, it was very very good.

Lots of flowers around the city. Gives a nice touch especially on such a dreary day.
That same day, we left for Salzburg. The whole trip from Ulm is 4 hours long by train (2 hours to Munich, 2 hours to Salzburg).

Reminds me of one of the streets in the old part of Quebec City.

The cable car ride down to the lower level.
A lovely moving art piece. This is also the place where a natural spring brings up water which has been used by the residents of the city for hundreds of years.

A major stop with updated arrival times. I wouldn't mind seeing these in Toronto.
They also have a large number of trolley busses.
We stopped by a small restaurant by the river that served fresh seafood. Quite cheap and good food which is made right on the spot. This was Lux Fillet with potatoes.
Back in Mirabell Gardens.
We had 1.5 hours back in Munich before we had to catch our train. So we took a stroll down the main pedestrian zone, between Karlsplatz and Marienplatz.

Since we really enjoyed Munich, we decided to go back the next day to see more of it.
