With the second day there being a Saturday, our friends offered to take us close by to Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen which is located in southwest Bavaria.

On the way there. A lot of the farm land has turbines on them. This was one of the many I saw during the trip. You can also see solar panels on the roofs which is also a common thing on many residential homes. One thing I noticed is that Germany is very energy efficient. Dual flush toilets are installed everywhere, the use of renewable energy is seen through turbines and solar panels, they leave on less lights during night time, and the recycling system there is a lot more strict than it is in Toronto.

Taking the local roads there, we stopped by a place where they make cheese and other dairy products.

The castle on the mountain. To get to it, you can either walk by taking the footpaths or you can pay a small price and ride in the horse and buggy which is what we took.

Some houses around the base of the mountain.

You can still see small patches of snow even though it's been above freezing weather for a long while.

Next stop, Stuttgart.

smuncky, if you can, post some meal photos. Lots of travellers do that; take pics of memorable meals, thanks.

Great pics and beautiful views, by my god that 'castle' looks like it was built three years ago...talk about Mcmansion!

Imagine if this was located in North America. The view below from the castle would be a sea of big box stores, gas stations and fast food joints.
