Our longtime Off-&-On local landmark,... the "LCBO Opening Soon" sign has now changed to "LCBO Now Open"

Speaking of Off-&-On,... as you can see from the image, the large illuminated "LCBO" sign is off,... as are the illuminated "LCBO" signs on the north-side and south-side of building,... along with the forth one inside near escalator - nobody seems to know where light switch is - since these were installed about 4 years ago and left unused.

Again, speaking of Off-&-On,... another quirk relates to the interior store lighting, which uses Motion Sensors to trigger Energy Saving Mode - thus, if nobody in the store moves for a few minutes, the lighting will dim to save energy; again, they can't find the switch to turn this feature off during store opening hours since it's been so long,...

LCBO seems to have most of their electrical quirks under control now,..... took them about 2.5 weeks after opening to figure out how to turn on illuminated LCBO signage outside (actually controlled by Canderal - Metro's on-site loading docks facility management) - now everyone walking and driving by knows LCBO is open,... they just need to figure out how to find the store in EmeraldPark!

EmeraldPark's specialized food joints & bubble tea places most with tiny footprints (limited seating) means takeout and delivery is popular,... thus, idling cars,... and some of the shops are set up with an Asian version of UberEats/Foodora/SkipTheDishes/etc,....

Some LCBO customers have complained they should get free parking,.... as I mentioned previously Metro (landlord) is working on getting 100 parking spaces at EmeraldPark P1 & P2 level,...

Should be very simple since developers are required to build X many parking spaces for retail space,.... thus, the parking spaces are there! The problem is with EmeraldPark 2nd level retail space being empty for 3 years,.... many of these commercial parking spaces were/are leased out to tenants from neighbouring NestleBuilding,.... because parking rates are much cheaper at EmeraldPark VS NestleBuilding - where their parking lot is 3/4 empty on work days!


BTW, once I figure out how to sneak a sofa & TV into that LCBO Cold Beer Room,... that'll be my summer cottage!
 
Love the store -- great selection and friendly staff. But see lots of people wondering how to get into EP from Yonge. And one or both escalators always seems to be down or switched off lately.

This take doesn't make any sense. A starbucks inside the subway station and one in the Metro store are for totally different groups of people. They wouldn't say "since we can't serve grocery store customers, we'll go serve subway passengers instead." The two stores are totally independent of each other.

Well, then I guess your Emerald park "grocery store" Starbucks bailed to Yonge-Sheppard Centre

Does anyone know why the escalator has been kaput so often since it went into service ?

Poor quality build, material and craftmanship, that's pervasive throughout this Bazis project with Bazis cutting every corner to save every penny. The first items to go are anything that moves like escalators, elevators and doors.

Note: At Emerald Park: one of their TTC doors on Poyntz broke off hinge and been boarded up for about a month, another door on Bogert near Yonge is missing. This repeats itself every few months! They do a temporary hack-fix like reinforcing door hinge with another metal plate - only to see it break again!
When hinge doors at HullmarkCentre North Tower residential condo lobby swung open and broke window, they replaced set of hinge doors with revolving doors! Fixed right the first time and never have to fix it again! The broken hinge doors at Yonge-Sheppard Centre CIBC will likely need to be replaced with revolving doors as well.

Metro owns the entire 2nd floor retail space along with passage through the mall to its 2nd floor property - that includes the ground level main sliding doors on Poyntz and these escalators. Since the 2nd floor supermarket space has never opened & LCBO only opened 3 months ago; for the last 4 years since new, these escalators have spent 99.9% of their time running in sleep/slow mode and very light load work throughout. Yet, these escalator need so much constant repair and maintenance,.... the escalator repair guy just leaves the warning gates and maintenance items in between the two escalators since he knows he'll have to come back soon!

Metro hired Canderel for their on-site property management (different than Emerald Park's building management); since Metro also owns the Loading Dock area - Canderel personnel are usually there if you need to contact them.
 
I don't see a lot of talk about the food court in this building, unlike the forum for the Sheppard Centre, which is filled with conversation about Potatopia and which places are opening/closing. The food court at Emerald Park is great is terms of quality offerings! The seating is total shit, but that's not the fault of the vendors (I don't think...). Anyway, has anyone tried Zheng's Juicy Fried Buns? They're amazing!
 
There was a lot of talk of Emerald Park's food court when it flooded due to broken overhead water pipes, twice. My best recommendation for Emerald Park food court,.... is bring an umbrella!
