City of Toronto staff have created ward profiles for the City’s current 44 wards and for the new 47 wards that come into effect December 1. The ward profiles contain information from the 2016 long-form Census of Statistics Canada.

"These ward profiles will help guide the City in the important decisions we make on services and programs," said Mayor John Tory. "I am happy that we make this information available in a format everyone can access and use."

The ward profiles highlight key demographic factors using charts and detailed tables on a variety of measures, including the following:

• population by age group

• dwellings by type, tenure and period of construction

• families and households

• immigration and mobility

• language group

• ethnic origin and visible minorities

• education and labour force, and

• income and shelter cost.

The ward profiles use information from the 2016 long-form Census, as well as the 2011 Census and the 2011 National Household Survey to enable local comparisons to be made over time.

The updated ward profiles for the current 44 wards and Community Council boundaries are now available at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/data-research-maps/neighbourhoods-communities/ward-profiles/.

The City of Toronto’s 2018 municipal election will be conducted using a new 47-ward model, which will replace the 44-ward model. The 47 ward boundaries take effect on December 1, 2018 when the new 2018-2022 term of City Council begins. These ward profiles are available at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/data-research-maps/neighbourhoods-communities/ward-profiles/ward-profiles-2018/.

Data in the 2016 and 2011 Ward Profiles for the current and new wards is available on the City's Open Data portal at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/data-research-maps/open-data/open-data-catalogue/.
