As for small companies working on St Clair, I don't know what you call EllisDon who screw up some of their work. The bulk of the work was done by one company who has and is doing most of TTC track work with very little issues. TTC had them jumping around out of phase a lots of time and delay finishing off areas later than sooner as plan. They did the Queensway. Then, TTC doesn't hire the contractors in the first place, the city does, with TTC being a sub to the contractor.
There was a report at that time that stated they couldn't get the small businesses to work faster or they'll push them to bankruptcy. Unless they media was totally wrong, that is what is said at the time. I couldn't find much from the time but here's one.

The TTC is already looking to replace the mishmash of small contractors that built St. Clair with larger contractors capable of co-ordinating sprawling projects. Teams of communications staff will keep people abreast of Transit City developments; one employee with 16 other projects on his watch handled communications for the St. Clair line, Mr. Mihevc said.

One of my photos illegally appeared on the front page of the Globe and Mail either the day before or on the day of a TTC meeting showing the track work east of Dufferin St that I refer as built by the drunken sailor. Between Dufferin and Oakwood there are 3 locations that were miss match because of poor surveying because either the city didn't want X road to be close as plan or TTC jumping from one area to another. The contractor had to rip curbs out in this area as they were detail wrong by the city.

Yea that was exactly the area I was thinking of. Thanks! Hope you sorted out that issue with G&M; you’d think a reputable news agency would know better.

You're going to tell them?
No, you're going to them.
I'm not going to tell them. You tell them...

Hopefully all that conduit piping is able to last for a very long time. Otherwise, we're going to be in for a world of pain if tracks and concrete bedding have to be dug out.

Please tell me that cars won’t be driving into the portals, like they do on Queens Quay.

As I said before we need those pop up bollards. They retract and ascend depending on when vehicles are nearby. If someone drives into a bollard there will be more than a damaged axle.

I really think there needs to be a stupidity fine and section introduced to the Highway Traffic Act, with this driver being the first to be charged to the fullest extent of the new law.

Arent there going to be curbs along the road to completely separate the row along with grass? Then again we do have very stupid drivers on the road these days
