From release:

The Credit Valley Hospital (CVH) is located in Mississauga. It is a community hospital providing leadership in the delivery of primary, secondary and tertiary health care services to the diverse residents and growing populations of Peel and Halton regions and beyond. The hospital serves a catchment area of almost one million patients.

The hospital has more than 2,000 employees and is made up of 300 credentialed physicians and 554 volunteers.

Highlights of the redevelopment project include:

* A new four-storey inpatient unit and a two-storey/three-level addition;
* Increased capacity for more beds to service patients in maternal/child care, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, surgical oncology and palliative care;
* Doubling the number of labour and delivery rooms (from seven to 15) to improve care and services for mother and babies;
* An increase in bassinets from 22 to 37 to facilitate care for pre-term and other newborns requiring specialized neonatal care closer to home;
* An additional operating room and two new procedure rooms; and
* A new high-density radiation therapy suite and resources for expanded cancer treatments to better meet current patient volumes and the expected volumes in coming years.

The Credit Valley Hospital Phase II Redevelopment Project will add approximately 270,000 square feet of new construction, which will increase the hospital’s overall physical size by almost one third. Approximately 70,000 square feet of renovated space will also be included in the project.

really boring compared to what's been added there lately.

Indeed. I always found it funny that the helipad wasn't on top of the hospital. They have to transport patients from helicopter by ambulance from the helipad to the building. Wouldnt it be easier to just build one on the roof?

It is funny, in a sad kind of way, but somehow so predictably suburban. Thing is, Mississauga ain't THAT suburban anymore.

cc: It does look a bit boring, from these renderings at least. The most recent addition, the Fidani Cancer Centre, is an extremely attractive building. Too bad most people will never see its interior.

I wonder why provision can't be made to put the helipad on the roof of the new structure. It seems to make so much sense.
