The Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea. It's been under constructon for more than two decades.

And you thought Toronto's architecture was bad...

Looks slightly better with the glass on. There's a sinister vibe to it...

This "hotel of doom" still isn't completed inside.

And according to a defected North Korean engineer, it was impossible to put elevators in the structure. Yes, you have to walk up all 105 stories. Western tourists can now get a taste of what it's like to be Core Class of North Korean Songbun.

fedplanner:

The one with the taste for filmmaking is on his way to a glass coffin; his son prefers bootlegged Disney characters instead.

PS: Correction - he is already in one.

Before they started working on it again a couple of years back, the official line on this building is that it didn't exist. It was regularly airbrushed out of photos of Pyongyang, even though it's absolutely massive and impossible to avoid noticing. Commentators over the years have regularly noted that there's something "off" about this building that gives it a sinister air.

There is also some question as to whether any of the hotel rooms will ever open.

Most recent update I've seen: http://travel.cnn.com/north-korea-ryugyong-hotel-kempinski-pyongrang-open-341481
