CityPlace: potential tower sw corner of Spadina & Front

433 Front Street West Development Site

The site at the southwest corner of Front and Spadina is apparently still owned by Canada Lands.

433 FRONT STREET WEST

433 Front Street West is a 1.1 acre (0.45 hectare) parcel of land from CLC's located at the south-west corner of Front Street and Spadina Avenue in Toronto, Ontario. It was acquired in 1995 from Canadian National Railway.

The lands are designated a “Front Street General Use Area A†within the Official Plan of the City of Toronto and are zoned to permit apartment/condo building, hotel and commercial uses with a maximum gross floor area of 392,434 ft2 (36,458 m2).

Development of the site would have to occur over the GO Transit rail yard located on the lands.

Thanks for digging that up U2 - a building over the GO yard there would make for some very cool density, and interesting views!

Especially considered how difficult it has been just to get the pedestrian bridge built over the tracks, let alone a building.

One can imagine it being a little easier to build over storage tracks than active tracks though. For the right price, GO could find another place to store its trains for a bit while pillars were being sunk into the ground, taking maybe only two adjacent storage tracks out of commission at a time.

the site is pretty small..

I thought Concord was slowing down on the development in this area because of the economy/market.
