Third annual Festival of Architecture and Design starts May 1
The City of Toronto is joining forces with more than a dozen organizations and partners to showcase design during Toronto's third annual Festival of Architecture and Design (fAd). Throughout the month of May, fAd will celebrate architecture, landscape architecture, fashion, graphic, industrial and interior design.
fAd 2007 will feature over 60 events, including two film and video series, two conferences, three parties, four award competitions, nine lectures or workshops, 11 walks or tours, and 20 exhibitions.
These are just a few examples of what the public can do:
* Jane's Walk - celebrating Jane Jacobs
* Pecha Kucha (Japanese for chit-cat) - book launch and forum with leading designers
* Silos video presentations, on the former grain elevators at the foot of Bathurst St.
* Graphic design studio crawl
* Building Toronto’s Green Future panel discussion
* International Architects, Urban Designers, Planners, Interior and Graphic Designer's exhibition
* Third "Toronto the Good" Party - sponsored by ERA Architects and Spacing Magazine in the Distillery District
* The PUG Awards - on-line voting for the best and worst of Toronto architecture.
