Church conversion at College & Palmerston (Kosoy/Brennan)

I noticed a bit of traffic to our blog from this post today so I thought I would follow up.

When I looked into this in January, the plans were to convert the church into 4 very big multi level condos. All units were already sold which is why they weren't marketing it.

Not sure if the plans have changed since then.

Thanks for the follow-up. It's too bad the general public never got a chance at this building... I imagine it will be quite nice, and is in an excellent location.

Any news on who the developer is, etc.?

I actually tracked down the owner of the property, so I'm not sure if he's affiliated with any of the big developers. It almost looked like he had a few buyers in place before he even bought the place.

I believe this project is going to the Committee of Adjustment tomorrow at 3:00 PM for a consent and minor variance applications.

Nice job here, except perhaps how they closed off the doors facing College St:

This was supposed to be several smaller units but the developer, Joe Brennan, gave up on this idea and built 4 gigantic condos for himself and a few friends. The one facing college is 10,000 sf and has an office in the steeple with a 48 foot ceiling.

Here is an article about it from the February 4, 2010 edition of the Globe & Mail:
Church project gets luxury builder's blessing

The frit on those doors really clashes with the shapes and patterns at work on the old church. Otherwise-- gorgeous building.

Wait did this project complete ?

It wrapped up a while ago, although one of the units seemed to take longer to complete than the others. I lived right across the street from here for two years, and was baffled at what exactly was taking them so long to wrap up. The unit on the north side was for sale for a long time, and ended up going through a number of price reductions.

Sorry I read the article, crazy project, I've walked by it several times and thought it was a functioning Church.

The article seemed to indicate the developer was not interested in making a profit (short or long term) and just wanted to build a *statement unit(s)*.

I would love to see pictures !

Ask and you shall receive Taal. I think this is one of the units: http://themashcanada.blogspot.ca/2012/10/314-palmerston-boulevard-palmerston.html?q=college

Joe Brennan mostly builds houses in ForestHill.
