The following is my trek along Black Creek in Toronto roughly from the 401 to south of Eglinton.

This continues to be one of my favourite creeks due to the concrete canal-type structure that runs along some sections. If I'm not mistaken this is to curb flooding. It also makes walking alongside really easy!

Pictures may not be spectacular quality-wise. I'm just a casual explorer.

Finishing off the trip

I need to get out there some time to check it out. It's sort of like Toronto's version of the L.A. River. It recalls that chase scene for me, in Terminator 2, through the river channel.

It's amazing that there's a street in the city with a river literally in the middle of it--Humber Boulevard--but the river is isolated in a trench that's fenced off with chainlink fence. It seems like a missed opportunity for a unique public space.

Isn't that due to flooding potential?

Sections of the creek without the canal can flood up to 5 times the normal width!

And back when the Finch Ave bridge was washed out it was because of Black Creek.
