I am wondering how he could end up 24 metres away from the building - that implies a significant amount of lateral movement.

I'm also wondering how he could of fallen off the 70th floor considering it doesn't exist yet. I went by the building yesterday and counted 66 or 67. Unless they skipped a few floors i.e. the infamous 13th floor.

Please don't insult 1 Wall Centre.

Oh please, One Wall Center is nothing special.

"Capt. Mike Strapko says the man was on the 70th floor of a building (at 388 Yonge Street) when he fell off it around noon, dropping 181 metres before landing on the 15th floor rooftop of an adjacent building."

It is a sad news and might halt construction for a while. This incident took place today at around 12:30 pm. http://globalnews.ca/news/798316/man-falls-20-metres-from-building/

Sounds like he fell from the top floor onto the balcony of the 15th floor on the south side. Very sad.

This bit is a little "odd":

Police and paramedics responded to the scene but initially had trouble making their way to the victim. Police officials tell Global News the roof where the man landed was unstable and at risk to collapse.

I can't think of any roofs in the area being that fragile. It must be the construction barrier they have up.

very sad :(

The Toronto fire department says a construction worker has died after plunging 55 floors off a downtown building.

Capt. Mike Strapko says the man was on the 70th floor of a building (at 388 Yonge Street) when he fell around noon, dropping 181 metres before landing on the 15th floor rooftop of an adjacent building.

Strapko says the man was found about 24 metres away from the building.

Paramedic spokeswoman Kim McKinnon says the man was declared dead at the scene.

Strapko says the Ministry of Labour is investigating and police are at the scene

If you watch the video Sunny posted - he landed on the building to the north of the site

Why is there this insistence that we need to have a building utterly finished before we can judge its' aesthetics? We can tell 1 St. Thomas would look good, Four Seasons would look good, L Tower would look good and Uptown would look terrible way before any of them is actually complete.

Ramako:

Really? That's complete news to me - do you have a source?

Just asking since the reason they went for the lighter tone was a spat between Vancouver planning and Peter Wall over the colour of the glazing as proposed vs. as built, with the two tone being a compromise (since half of the glazing was already applied)
