Are you going away for March break?

Anybody who needs a nice break ought to appreciate this website. I don't remember the last time I used a travel agent, all my bookings have been on-line for at least the past 7 years or so, anybody still use a travel agent?

The link is about booking flight and hotels, so if anybody does not want a nice cruise, a trip to Florida, Vegas or to some other destination, please don't go there:

Don't say I didn't warn you, but Im still curious. Anybody going away this March break and where are you going? I could use a trip to Vegas but I can't afford to gamble. Now how are we going to make sure the kids stay out of trouble, beginning Friday?

"..anybody still use a travel agent?"

I think they're still useful if your planning an extensive vacation involving multpile locations, especially if you want to know about hotels etc. Perhaps if you're planning to go somewhere truly exotic and out of the ordinary (which is increasingly more difficult to find) I'd go to one. But for a week or two in the sun or flights to well established destinations I just go to Cheaptickets, Expedia etc.

Sorry Din- never been to Vegas. At the moment I'm trying to book a trip somwhere warm for my mother. She wants to avoid the post-teen college crowds on break; what would be the best place/week in March.. any ideas?

Something like this might not be too bad.

"5-Night Western Caribbean (Miami Round-Trip) on the Norwegian Pearl Rates from $399"

Does your mother like cruises?

I got that from clicking on the travelocity link from surfofind.com, the one beside the 'Viva Las Vegas' logo.

If I was you, I would just surf around and book whatever looks good and reasonably prices, as long as you book through a reputable source like 'Travelocity' you can't go wrong. I guess expedia is reputable too, but I'd compare the prices and see where I could get the better deal.

She's going with an old friend and are hoping to go to Cuba, so I figure Santiago de Cuba might be their best bet. Varadero seems very hit and miss. Decent local food, some history and attractive surroundings seem key for them. Night life, bar selection, and the regular fun-in-the-sun sports are not that important. I'm not finding Trip-advisor etc. to be all that helpful as everyone seems to have a different experience and expectation. One person says a place is wonderful and they go back year after year, yet others say it sucks and the service is terrible etc. Some whine that the beach is only 100M long and they can't get freshly squeezed orange juice- so it is pretty hard to get a good evaluation.

I miss the days when March Break and reading week actually meant something. It will be business as usual for me next week.

possibly might not, can't find camera's battery charger - think I've lost it in my last move.

Also I think Hazel's replacement, when she finally carks it, is now in transit back to motherland Missasauga (hey, he actually taught me how to pronounce it correctly :D ). I'll be wearing my Missasauga town hall lapel pin with pride around Singapore and Hong Kong. :lol
