Canlight Realty introduces Ancroft Place, a collection of 21 heritage townhomes set on a quiet cul-de-sac just north of the Sherbourne St Bridge in South Rosedale. Formerly a high-end rental property, the homes at Ancroft Place are being offered to individual buyers as condominiums.

The two and three-storey houses, designed by the architecture firm of Shepard & Calvin in the Mock Tudor style, were built in 1927 by Kenneth Ferns Mackenzie, a prominent lawyer, developer, and businessman. Lauded by Eberhard Zeidler as “among the best housing ever conceived in Toronto,†the entire community was listed by the city as a heritage property in 1973.

The town homes are arranged in three blocks on landscaped grounds with mature trees, with four facing Sherbourne St and 17 fronting Ancroft Place. They range in size from approximately 1,800 square feet to 2,800 square feet with three to six bedrooms.

Each home contains a living room with wood-burning fireplace, separate dining room, and two upstairs bathrooms. Some bedrooms have a fireplace as well. Original features include nine-foot ceilings, crown mouldings, and leaded glass.

All homes at Ancroft Place are equipped with new boilers and radiator heating, new central air-conditioning, new roofs, and new thermal double-pane windows matched to the original lead-frame windows. Individual garages and outdoor parking places are located at the rear.

Monthly maintenance fees cover grounds-keeping, snow-removal, and exterior maintenance. There is no amenities package. Two model homes are currently available for viewing.

Wouldn't sound be an issue in these older attached homes ? They look amazing in person though - walked by and saw this development a couple weeks ago - didn't think much of it at the time :)
