Adam Vaughn - Ward 20?

Hey guys, Adam Vaughn's inevitable entry into politics is looking like it may happen from what I hear on the street. Anybody live in Ward 20 who knows what his chances are? Any polls? Has anybody attended any debates?

My g/f lives in Ward 20 and is still unsure who to vote for, but she was less than impressed with Helen Kennedy. From what i understood the situation happened like this:

*Knock on apartment door*
G/f (answering the door): Hello?
Random Helen Kennedy Staffer: "Vote for Helen Kennedy, she's been endorsed by Olivia Chow."
*Random Staffer walks off to the next apartment*
G/f 'WTF?'

I'm trying to push her to vote for Vaughan by default (though to be fair I must say I didn't watch City Idol, so I have no idea about who or what Desmond Cole stands for).

Whoever wins this ward in this election will be overseeing the West8 redevelopment of the central waterfront.

May the best (wo)man win.

The "Chosen By Chow" thing certainly rubs me the wrong way. Who made Olivia Chow my voting concience? Olivia Chow isn't royalty and isn't my mother last time I checked. Who is she to tell me who to vote for? I see this whole "Chosen By Chow" thing backfiring. Both Kennedy and Vaughan probably would make decent candidates.

Miller didn't live up to the hype of the last election although he certainly seems like a better candidate than "Miss Against What She Voted For" and "Mister Let Me Fix the City's Finances With Bankruptcy". The big disappointments with Miller was the failure to resolve the Paula Dill and Union Pearson mess at Union Station and the last minute Jack Diamond / TEDCO plan which disregarded all the public consultations held by TWRC.

So with both Kennedy and Vaughan being decent candidates, Miller looking like he is in but with my not being too impressed with the last few years, and with Bolton looking safe I really doubt I will make it to the polls.

I ran into one of Vaughan's stepmothers at the ballet intermissions yesterday. She rushed off as soon as it was over to campaign for him. Nice lady, so he can't be all bad.

I made it to the Spacing/eye magazine vote party at Revival last week and I would have to say that it was an excellent event to really make a mayoral decision. I see Miller's first term as disappointing, he also is the captain of an NDP contingent at city hall that is too left for my tastes and that irks me with its tainting of municipal politics with party politics. That said, while I actually see sense in the direction of some of Pitfield's proposed initiatives she is frankly amateur hour and Miller comes off as the more pragmatic of the two on many key issues (except Miller's purely irrational disregard for incineration). Before hearing him speak I was considering not casting a mayoral vote, after hearing Miller speak I'm willing to reluctantly endorse a second term. Vaughn gets my vote over Kennedy if only to stick it to the above mentioned NDP cohort.

Adam Vaughn elected... and so begins his political career which in my opinion was long overdue.
