Two 4-storey residential buildings being built at the current address of 85 Huron Street, replacing an old 1-storey house. It's just north of Dundas, in the residential part of Chinatown.

Replacing this:

Not related, but one block away on D'arcy Street is a well restored Victorian house. I've been following it's progress and the finished product looks great. I wish more owners in the area would take similar initiatives.

Where's balenciaga!? His dream is starting to come true!

In all seriousness though, what an ugly development. Typical example of someone trying to replicate that "old timey" feel and fit into the existing neighbourhood... Instead it'll come off looking far more out of place than something contemporary and (gasp!) modern.

Oh you think it's ugly now? Just wait for the aluminum siding and EIFS.

Haha yeah, if that's the case I'd rather it be left unfinished. Hopefully they use real brick at the very least...

To contribute somewhat more appropriately now, does anyone know if this is a private build, or are these being marketed in any way? They're definitely not boutique condo-towns, but it seems to be a bit more significant than someone just building a couple new homes.

LOL, thanks for remembering me.
Both the old and the new building look very ugly, so aesthetics is not an issue here, but the new one makes more sense because more units are provided.

Looks much better than what was there before, to be honest. It would be great if we could add this type of density behind the existing (restored) Victorian stock - except with a higher quality design. That type of development would propel Toronto into a completely different level of urban vitality.

Still not a attractive build, way too much rentals in this area to be a great neighborhood,so many issues with renters vs neighbors in this area, cops even said that on Friday and Saturdays they get about 30 calls per night for noise complaints, renters dont give a hoot since most are rotated out every 6 months.
